The Young Knives - ‘Weekends and Bleak Days [Hot Summer]’ (Transgressive) Released 14/08/06

Momentum is slowly picking up pace for The Young Knives – no sooner has the hilarious ‘She’s Attracted To’ took up permanent residency in the consciousness than has this ode to skiving off been lined-up for release. It remains to be seen whether the public at large will take to the boffin-like trio but the truth of the matter is they’re probably the most-likely-to bunch of least-likely-to's since Jarvis Cocker found himself squinting through his fringe into the limelight. ‘Weekends And Bleak Days’ isn’t The Young Knives’ strongest moment but is still naggingly insistent, typically dry and whets the appetite for the forthcoming album.
